Brief portrait of VAT Vakuumventile AG
VAT is the world’s leading developer and producer of high-performance vacuum valves, multi-valve assemblies, vacuum modules and metal diaphragm bellows. The site in Haag (SG) is home to a manufacturing and research and development department, which has been equipped with flawa iQ across the board since mid-2020.
Initial situation
The VAT has extensive premises, which were equipped with first aid dispensaries customary for businesses. The effort required to check, refill and maintain the first aid kits was immense. And yet it was impossible to keep track of what was needed where and when, and thus what was missing from the kit. In addition, a separate stock of dressing materials had to be kept for refilling the pharmacies.
Implementation of flawa iQ
VAT started a three-month test phase at the beginning of 2020 with five flawa iQ Pro cases. This is the version with automatic reordering function and integrated alarm solution. The system worked flawlessly, was convincing and started exactly where the conventional pharmacies caused effort. As a result, more than 30 flawa iQ cases were installed at the Haag site, distributed across all buildings.
Added value and significant relief for those responsible
Thanks to the use of flawa iQ, the HSE team feels a clear relief in their daily work. Inspection rounds are now superfluous and thanks to the iQ online portal, areas with an increased frequency of injuries can be made visible. Various improvement measures have already been introduced, resulting in a reduction of occupational accidents. Thanks to the automatic reordering function, there is also no need to stock bandage replacement materials. However, the most important thing for Stephan Berger is the fact that thanks to flawa iQ the safety of the employees is optimally guaranteed at all times.
Acceptance by staff
The concept of injury modules is new for employees. However, the handling is very simple and self-explanatory, so that employees and first responders of VAT find their way around better in emergency situations. There is no need for long searches in the case for the required materials. Stephan Berger also noted that thanks to the gloves integrated in each module, first responders attach more importance to self-protection, i.e. the gloves are actually used.
Conclusion
Stephan Berger describes flawa iQ as an “interesting high-tech product” which fulfills the requirements of VAT and provides very good services with regard to the safety of its employees. He recommends the integration of flawa iQ to all companies that attach great importance to this security.
