Brief portrait

Bell Switzerland Ltd is the leading Swiss meat processor and market leader and offers a complete range of meat, charcuterie, poultry and seafood. Bell Switzerland serves retail, food service and food industry customers and is part of the inter-nationally active Bell Food Group Ltd.

Initial situation
Bell Switzerland is a major customer of Flawa AG. More than 70 flawa iQ Pro cases are in use at almost all production sites throughout Switzerland, and further sites are currently in the test phase. We were able to exchange information with the safety division, Bell Schweiz AG, about their experiences in connection with the intelli-gent first aid system.

Disadvantages of conventional first aid kits when performing the employer’s duties in accordance with the law
Perfectly available first aid stations have always been important for Bell Switzerland. To ensure this, in the past inter-plant inspection rounds were carried out at regular intervals to check the cases for complete-ness and expiry dates. Furthermore, internal stocks of dressing materials had to be checked periodically and unused material had to be disposed of and procured anew due to expiry dates that had passed. Apart from the fact that this legally compliant care was very cumbersome to handle, it was also very time-consuming and costly. Partly for these reasons, the intelligent flawa iQ solution was evaluated.

Automatic reordering as a decisive feature
First and foremost, the emergency system scored with its single-use concept of injury modules and the associated automatic reordering function. The aforementioned control aisles and dressing material stores could be completely eliminated. Another plus point for Bell Switzerland is the integrated alarm function. Different company paramedics can be assigned to each first aid kit, who are alerted by pressing a button in the kit and summoned to the respective location. This is a feature that no comparable product on the market has.

Compliantly filled emergency cases and injury modules with a simple approach
In the day-to-day work of the responsible person, the advantages of flawa iQ become apparent in the form of compliantly filled first aid cases which can be conveniently monitored from the workplace using the iQ Portal. In addition, the injury modules developed by Flawa enable first aiders to handle the cases much more easily and are a great support in an emergency. This is seen as a positive achievement by various experts. The aforementioned automatic reorder function, which takes effect when the modules are removed, rounds off the system perfectly. Responsible persons are thus guaranteed that the cases are completely ready for use again within a very short time.

Conclusion
flawa iQ is a great, well thought-out first aid system that scores with its easy handling, modular structure, automatic order triggering and a fresh layout. The integration of flawa iQ and the experiences made so far are positive. The new system has been well received by the staff. Compared to all the improvements, there is one drawback for the safety department, which is the acquisition costs for the networked cases as well as the monthly fees for the operation of the system. The many advantages compared to a standard first aid kit would also have their price.
